Grace Acquisition
On November 18 2011, Grace acquired Synthetech Inc. Synthetech’s expertise in organic synthesis and biocatalysis provided Grace with synergistic capabilities and additional capacity for the manufacture of specialty single-site and polypropylene catalysts used in the production of plastics.

In addition, the acquisition complements Grace’s Discovery Sciences product portfolio and broadens the solutions we can offer our customers in the pharmaceutical discovery through development, formulation, and manufacturing.

Facility

Lab
Our kilo lab and pilot plant provide the scale-up facilities to enable us to efficiently implement a commercial manufacturing process while supplying developmental quantities throughout clinical trials.

Product isolation is carried out using centrifuges and filter presses. Centrifuges range in diameter from 32 to 48 inches. Plate and frame filter presses are available in polypropylene and stainless steel, and range in size from 18 to 30 inches. In addition, assorted vacuum and pressure nutsche filters and jacketed sparkler filters are utilized.

The new wastewater treatment facility allows us to meet new regulatory requirements.
Drying
Drying equipment includes several vacuum tray dryers ranging in size from 40 to 128 square feet. Additional drying capabilities include a 10 cubic foot cone dryer and an 80 cubic foot rotary vacuum dryer.
tfarm
Our total commitment to safety and environmental controls is reflected in the state-of-the-art design features of the tank farm and unloading station, which prevent and contain accidental spills and releases.
Gus
Sophisticated analytical instrumentation can detect parts-per-billion levels of regulated pollutants in industrial wastewater effluent.

Safety
As a manufacturer of fine chemicals/intermediates and an Oregon OSHA Safety and Health Recognition Achievement Program (SHARP) company, our goal is to promote a safe and secure work environment and to ensure that all operations and activities are in compliance with departmental, agency, state and federal regulations and guidelines, and to protect our assets and property in a secure manner. We are proud to be a recipient of the prestigious SOCMA safety award for 5 consecutive years and remain committed to maintaining a strong Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) program.

Quality
We continue to be committed to delivering high-quality products to our customers.  To ensure that our customers' quality expectations are met, we have developed a comprehensive cGMP environment for manufacturing large-scale advanced intermediates and early-phase APIs. This promotes manufacture of superior pharmaceutical intermediates and ensures that our final products are consistently delivered on time and within specification.  Several recent customer audits have resulted in cGMP intermediate and early-phase API qualification.
